Kellie Parker has been managing online communities since 1998. During that time, she has worked with the medias of IRC and text-based chat, online events and webinars, message boards, blogs, and more. Although she is knowledgeable about the entire universe of online communities and social networking, her specialty is large, brand-oriented communities.
For 7 years, Kellie worked as a Senior Producer and Community Manager with LiveWorld, a community platform and management vendor. Her former clients include eBay, HBO, Food Network, Disney, A&E, History Channel, Biography Channel, Discovery Channel, Slim Fast, Shell, Sony Music, Tulane University, Match.com and Intel.
Kellie is currently the Online Community Manager at PC World and Macworld (part of IDG) in San Francisco, CA. Her duties include community strategy and day-to-day management of the PC World community and the Macworld community, overseeing contests, sweepstakes and member benefits, managing reader-written product reviews, and managing the reader contributors in the Community Voices blog on PC World. She is the author of the weekly Community Scoop column on PC World, the editor of PCW Forum (Letters to the Editor) in PC World magazine, and a contributor to the Today @ PC World blog on issues of online community and social networking.
Kellie has presented at numerous workshops and conferences, including OMMA ‘07, Community 2.0, Online Community Business Forum, and many IDG-internal conferences.
Kellie holds a BA in Criminal Justice from Kent State University, and an MBA in Marketing from Regis University.
Kellie is a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma sorority, and volunteers her time as a National Officer, working with collegiate women and their advisors. She is also the Vice President of the San Francisco Alumnae Chapter.
Kellie is a member of Order of Omega and Mortar Board honor societies.
